Basketball Clinics

Knicks Basketball Clinics create an opportunity for basketball fans to participate and learn the concepts of Knicks basketball in an area near you. Clinics focus on helping athletes improve their skills and develop their overall basketball games by teaching basic practice drills and emphasizing the fundamentals.
Clinics will be taught by the Knicks Field Marketing staff, local basketball coaches, and basketball legends John Starks and Kym Hampton. Past clinics have included guest lecturers from the front office, the Knicks current roster, and alumni.

The New York Knicks/Liberty will produce a Basketball Clinic focusing on the themes of "good sportsmanship, self esteem and nutrition" for the Elmcore Youth & Activities Recreation program "A Child's Place Too" in Queens, for 150 coed children with an appearance by New York State Senator Jose Peralta (who represents the communities of Corona, Jackson Heights and Elmhurst), NYK alumni John Starks and John Wallace. All children & staff will receive Liberty vouchers and Knicks items.

The New York Knicks/Liberty produced a Basketball Clinic focusing on introducing younger children from the Dominican community at Highbridge Park in Washington Heights to the basic fundamentals of the game for 150 coed participants (ages 5 -13) at the recently refurbished Raoul Wallenberg Playground (189th/Amsterdam) in support of The NYC Parks & Recreation Department, Vantage & The Court of Dreams Foundation (a Donnie Walsh supported Charity) who funded the project and provided 4 new courts, baskets & materials, court resurfacing and new fencing for the NYC Park. Appearances included Parks Dept Commissioner Adrian Benepe, Assembly member Adriano Espaillat and Congressman Charles Rangel with NYK alumni John Starks and John Wallace as well as the Knicks Groove Truck and Fan Development Team. All participants and families received NY Liberty vouchers and Knicks items.

"Declare Your Skills" Youth Basketball Clinic with Al Harrington & Larry Hughes (November 10, 2009)
50 boys and girls ages 8 to 12 participated in the first Knicks player skills clinic of the 2009-2010 season at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, November 10th with Al Harrington and Larry Hughes. Participants and their parents got a private all access tour of the Knicks locker room & autographs as well as a 2 hour fundamental skills and drills clinic on the garden floor conducted by Knicks players and staff. All participants then attended the November 11th Knicks vs Hawks game at Madison Square Garden. View the photo gallery.
