Tulsa led by 20 points, 79-59, heading into the final quarter of play over the defending NBA D-League champions. The Energy entered Saturday night’s contest in first place in the Eastern Conference.
Morningstar’s 23 points included a 3-of-5 effort from 3-point range. Jerome Dyson registered 19 points, a game-high six assists, three steals and two blocked shots. Xavier Alexander and Dwight Buycks each recorded 10 points.
Also aiding Tulsa in the win was a commanding 55-38 advantage on the boards, 22 of which came on the offensive end for the 66ers.
Tulsa’s defense forced 16 turnovers, created nine steals and held Iowa to 35-of-85 (.412) shooting on the night. Offensively, eight 66ers recorded at least one assist to combine for 22 dishes.
Leading Iowa was Andrew Drevo with 19 points and Marqus Blakely with nine rebounds.
The 66ers return home to host the Dakota Wizards on Sunday, Jan. 22, at 6 p.m. CT inside the Tulsa Convention Center.
